KATHLEEN FELTY

Praised for her “powerful, rich, nuanced” voice and “emotionally moving” performances, American mezzo-soprano Kathleen Felty is a versatile artist whose operatic, concert, and song repertoire encompass the baroque to the modern.  In 2024, Felty made her debut with Haymarket Opera, the Idaho Falls Symphony, the Chicago Bach Week Festival, returned to Wolf Trap Opera, and was a resident artist at  Le Fondation des Treilles in France.  An alumna of the Ryan Opera Center, Felty returned to the Lyric Opera of Chicago in 2023 for Wagner’s "The Flying Dutchman" and for the world premiere of a trilogy of new American operas called "Proximity".

"The mezzo’s voice has a contralto-like depth yet Felty brought great flexibility to her showy arias as well as expressive sensitivity...

Her natural, understated acting made Andronico the most rounded and believable character onstage."
